            Bug ID: 1044
Summary: My iMac keeps quitting and restarting
           Product: Libav
           Version: git HEAD
          Hardware: Other
                OS: Mac OS
            Status: NEW
          Severity: critical
          Priority: ---
         Component: general
          Assignee: bugzilla at libav.org
          Reporter: aryoung73 at gmail.com

Last night I installed Homebrew and Libav on my brand new (3/13/17) 27” iMac. I
installed because I wanted to use the converter for Video DownloadHelper to
record video/audio on Firefox. While installing, my new computer revved up and
made a loud fan noise for about 2 minutes, but stopped and acted okay.

Today I had my computer freeze while using Zoom video conferencing and it
completely shut my computer down with a black screen and an error came up
saying something like "Your computer restarted because of a problem". It
restarted and immediately shut down again. On the second restart it worked and
I did some clean up with CleanMyMac and did an update that was waiting for
Sierra and thought everything was okay. I researched and it said it is a
"kernel panic". In most cases, kernel panics are not caused by an issue with
the Mac itself. They are usually caused by software that was installed.

The computer was acting fine until I used Adobe Illustrator Creative Cloud this
evening. Illustrator CC is never slow with maxed out RAM and this is a brand
new computer. Today I couldn’t even move an image around without the color
wheel spinning and it took me an hour to design a simple bookmark that should
have taken me 15 minutes. I couldn’t type without it spinning, I couldn’t move
any element in the vector without the color wheel popping up.

So that’s when I remembered what happened last night with Terminal and
installing Homebrew and Libav. I’ve figured out how to uninstall Homebrew and
it says “Homebrew installed!” But I don’t know how to remove Libav and I want
it off my computer. I want my computer back to what it was yesterday morning. I
do have Time Machine. Can I go back to yesterday before the install and it go
back to no Homebrew or Libav in the Terminal or do I have to uninstall in
Terminal no matter what?
