            Bug ID: 891
Summary: avprobe option -show_frames still missing
           Product: Libav
           Version: git HEAD
          Hardware: X86
                OS: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: ---
         Component: utilities
          Assignee: bugzilla at libav.org
          Reporter: 7ero.Code at gmail.com

This goes back to the following bug report on the Debian mailing list
"libav-tools: avprobe does not support -show_frames option from ffprobe"

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=694616

Even though the bug was marked as fixed on Aug 31 2015, -show_frames still
isn't recognized as an option in avprobe and also not mentioned in its help
page as of the current git HEAD/master from the Main Development repository on
git.libav.org/?p=libav.git:

avprobe version v12_dev0-1818-g7b02cb2, Copyright (c) 2007-2015 the Libav
developers
  built on Sep 10 2015 15:08:06 with gcc 4.8 (Ubuntu 4.8.4-2ubuntu1~14.04)
avprobe v12_dev0-1818-g7b02cb2
libavutil 55. 0. 0 / 55. 0. 0
libavcodec 57. 1. 0 / 57. 1. 0
libavformat 57. 0. 0 / 57. 0. 0
libavdevice 56. 0. 0 / 56. 0. 0
libavfilter 6. 0. 0 / 6. 0. 0
libavresample 3. 0. 0 / 3. 0. 0
libswscale 4. 0. 0 / 4. 0. 0

I also looked into the first two developer trees given on the Download page
(the third by Anton Khirnov not working), but it's always "Unrecognized option
'show_frames'".

In this context, avprove also seems to be missing a method to select single
streams to display (using the avconv stream specifier notation, very useful
with -show_frames, -show_packets / show_streams in order to filter the output).
In ffprobe this would be done with -select_streams. But maybe this should be
filed separately.
