           Version: 10
          Platform: All
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal

File containing output of avconv process.

I'm trying to generate video thumbnail.
There are some videos that avconv processes differently on different versions
and/or architectures.

Command: ./avconv -loglevel 99 -i context_scratch_buffers -f image2 -vframes 1
-ss 00:00:02 thumb.jpg

In all cases avconv outputs the following message:
    [mpeg4 @ 0x103faa0] header damaged
but:

 1) libav-10.1, gcc 4.6 (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.6.3-1ubuntu5)
the thumbnail is not generated due to errors:
[mpeg4 @ 0x1f3fbe0] Context scratch buffers could not be allocated due to
unknown size.
    Error while decoding stream #0:1

 2) libav-0.8.10, on the same machine:
   the thumbnail is generated:
    [mpeg4 @ 0x1fd0260] header damaged
    [mpeg4 @ 0x1fd0720] Unsupported bit depth: 0
[mpeg4 @ 0x1fd0720] warning: first frame is no keyframe

 3) libav-10.1, for gcc 4.6 (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.6.3-1ubuntu5)
but on virtual machine the thumbnail is generated:
    [mpeg4 @ 0xaecca60] header damaged
    Error while decoding stream #0:1
[mpeg4 @ 0xaecca60] warning: first frame is no keyframe
    frame=    1 fps=  0 q=3.7 Lsize=       0kB time=0.01 bitrate=   0.0kbits/s
    video:0kB audio:0kB global headers:0kB muxing overhead 0.000000%

 4) libav-10.1, gcc 4.4.5 (Debian 4.4.5-8)
the thumbnail is not generated due to errors:
[mpeg4 @ 0x1f3fbe0] Context scratch buffers could not be allocated due to
unknown size.
    Error while decoding stream #0:1

I wonder what causes such differences. It depends on installed libraries?
Libraries were build using: ./configure; make
