Summary: Major memory leak in hardware-acelerated decoding with
                    VDA when seeking
           Product: Libav
           Version: git HEAD
          Platform: All
        OS/Version: Mac OS
            Status: NEW
          Severity: major
          Priority: Normal
         Component: libavcodec
        AssignedTo: bugzilla at libav.org
        ReportedBy: fuhrmann_mail at web.de

Tried with current git HEAD of libavcodec from today and current git version of
VLC 2.1-pre1:

When trying to play any h264 video where VDA decoding is enabled within VLC,
there is a major memory leak when seeking the file. An increased memory
consumption can be directly noticed in activity monitor, consisting of a plus
for used memory of up to 200 MB per seek. (The exact value is more for large
full HD videos, and depends of the speed of the system / the duration for
completing the seek. But its definitely more than the 30 KB as reported in the
ticket linked below.) All subsequent seeks accumulate to the current RAM value.

I already reported this issue here:

Felix wrote that the issue is within libav, so I am opening this ticket here.
