I'm puzzled by this bug report. Building with --enable-hardcoded-tables indeed
fails with MinGW, MinGW-w64 or even Cygwin, but I get different error messages
than the ones you posted.

Also, even with -D__USE_MINGW_ANSI_STDIO=1 in CFLAGS, gcc still complains about
"unknown conversion type character 'z' in format [-Wformat]" when building e.g.
libavformat/mmst.o, which is a file that uses a "%zu" printf format string. 
That define does not appear to work as advertised.

I'll need a bit more information about how to make that define work as expected
and what your actual problem is.
