Decoding some 1080p videos, memory use is way to high.
According to peakmem.pl[1] avconv uses 1086 MB for a my test video[2] while
ffmpeg only uses 95 MB

./peakmem.pl avconv -threads 1 -ss 493 -y -i test.ogv  -ss 3 -s 1920x1080 -f
mjpeg -an -vframes 1 foobar.jpg
1086 MB  

./peakmem.pl avconv -threads 1 -ss 493 -y -i test.ogv  -ss 3 -s 1920x1080 -f
mjpeg -an -vframes 1 foobar.jpg
95 MB
