avconv can merge two mono audio channels into one stereo channel using "amerge"

but it can't split a stereochannel into two mono channels which is needed to
convert to some MXF format standards (not every institute accepts "stereo
pairs").

there is such a thing as "asplit" but that is not the reverse function of
"amerge". It doesn't split stereo to two mono channels...it just copies
streams.
(which is somewhat useless because that can already be done with mapping)


If asplit can't be changed to really do splitting instead of copying (for
compatibility reasons for instance), it may be a possibility to implement the
ffmpeg option "-map_channel"
the code does already exist and works.
